Jerry Hodges, Internet Marketing Coach from Texas, (the early years).
You may be wondering, who is Jerry Hodges, Internet Marketing Coach from Texas… this is why I put together this short biography of my life.
First you might be wondering what I did before the internet, and how my life led me to working as an internet marketer and Coaching Home Business Entrepreneurs.
I grew up in a small Texas town, south of Abilene, called Brownwood. I Attended Brownwood High School, home of the Brownwood Lions.
The Brownwood football team has been legendary since the late 50’s. Almost every season they make it into the final playoff games. They draw very large crowds when they make it deep into the playoffs. It is quite exciting to watch…
I, however, did not play football so I was not in the popular crowd in high school. My passion was motorcycles.
I started riding dirt bikes when I was still in elementary school, and owned my first street bike at the age of 14. Couldn’t get a license until I was 15, but I was from a small town, nobody really cared back then.
I raced motorcycles, for several years on oval dirt tracks. This form of racing is known as flat track racing. It is very exciting because you reach speeds up to 140 mph on larger dirt tracks, sliding in the corners at around 100 mph.
At that point in my life nothing really mattered to me but racing… Considering my passion for racing I figured I would live a very exciting life but not a very prosperous life… Like all sports, few of the competators make it to the top where the money is..
I did not finish High school, nor did I receive any formal education of any kind. I married young and found myself with 3 children at the age of 18. Obviously things were tough at this point in my life, but I was never afraid of hard work, and I always had a positive attitude, so I made things work.
I am living proof that anyone can be successful in life, no matter what their beginnings. I had always been mechanically inclined so I begin a career as a motorcycle mechanic. This was the logical choice since it afforded me access to sponsors and discounted parts.
It also provided a very good living at the time. I enjoyed working on motorcycles and I enjoyed racing them, however it is amazing how quickly we grow too old for competitive sports, and once I was no longer racing, I didn’t enjoy the motorcycle industry as much as I had in the past.
At that time I decided to look elsewhere for a way to better support my family.
Jerry Hodges, Internet Marketing Coach from Texas, (mid 70’s to present).
I always wanted to be in sales, so I tried several door to door sales jobs such as Kirby Vacuum Cleaners, Fuller Brush Products, and insurance.
I do have to say, selling door to door was the best education I ever received. You truly learn how to work with people of all personality types, and solve problems. You have to understand that almost everyone is angry at you, when they open the door to find a salesman standing there. To take that angry person and get them to know like and trust you, and turn them into a paying customer…. well lets just say that is a challenge.
After some time of knocking doors, I finally landed a job in 1978 with a jewelry company. I traveled most of the state of Texas selling to drug stores, department stores, etc.
This was my dream job. However, once I had it I didn’t like it. Living in Motels and only being home on weekends didn’t agree with me. The idea of having to wear a suit the rest of my life…. well lets just say, that wouldn’t work for me.
I had a great opportunity to get into the construction business…. so I thought I would give it a try….
Construction is what I have done since the early 80′s. I have built just about everything that can be built at one time or the other. However, I specialize in storage buildings, decks, covers, etc.
I have almost always worked for myself and the business has been very good to me. I spent many years building my construction business and continue to be involved in its operation today.
Jerry Hodges, Internet Marketing Home Business Coach from Texas, (entering the money making business).
There is one major problem with owning and operating a service business.
You always exchange your time for money. If you are not there working or overseeing someone else work, you are not making any money. There is never a time when you can just set back and expect the money to roll in for the rest of your life.
You can have someone manage your business but no one ever has the passion for your business that you do. Without you, it is never the same.
I wanted to travel and not be tied down to my business. So, a few years ago I started looking for a residual income which could be earned from any location on earth.
I have always known sales is the way to achieve this goal. In the past I had tried a couple of the mlm business, like Amway, and Stanley Home Products. Looking back on that, I realize the only reason I did not become very successful was my lack of dedication and hard work.
After looking for a while, I discovered online marketing and that is when my life changed. I realized this was the way to automate a world wide business that could be managed from any computer connection in the world.
I made the same mistakes almost everyone else makes in the beginning. Jumping from one golden opportunity to another, expecting overnight results.
When I realized overnight results was an unrealistic expectation, I begin operating this business like any other business. I took the time to learn from others who were successful, and followed their advise. This paid off and I am currently operating and continuing to build my online business.
This is truly a very exciting business with no limits. I realize that I would not be where I am today if I had not discovered and listened to the coaches, who coached me to success. It is just to easy to get caught up in all the hoopla and become overwhelmed in this business, without someone to keep you on track.
Their are many coaches who charge thousands for their coaching, and I know many people just getting started can not afford this level of coaching. I have always made it a point to provide coaching to my team members. I know if I can help them become successful, this will only lead to greater success in my business.
This is where I am today. Continuing to grow my online home business and helping others start and build a home business…
Let me help you create a success story. No matter where you might be today, tomorrow can be better…
